Phobias

Phobias are much more than a fear of something. A phobia develops when a person has an inflated sense of danger about a situation, object, place, feeling or animal.

Phobias are classed as an anxiety disorder. If particularly severe, people might find themselves organising their life around their phobia. This can increase anxiety as day-to-day life becomes extremely restricted.

Symptoms

Symptoms and their severity can vary from person to person. In most cases, the symptoms are both physical and psychological. You do not always need to be confronted with your phobia to experience symptoms. Sometimes just thinking about it can make a person feel anxious.
